Zanskar Circuit — Leh to Leh over Shinku La

A true circuit through the valley that was a dead end until Shinku La became rideable. Out through the Suru valley and over Pensi La onto the Drang-Drung glacier to Padum, then back over Shinku La at 5,054 m and Tanglang La at 5,328 m. No road is ridden twice, so you fly into Leh and out of Leh on one return ticket. Roughly 200 km between Darcha and Padum with no fuel, and Phugtal monastery is reached on foot. Two nights acclimatising in Leh before any high pass. Every sector on this route is open to foreign passports, which is not true of all Ladakh roads, and we confirm the legal position in writing before any deposit.
