Seventeen days on the M41
This is the flagship Moto Yak raid: the full length of the Pamir Highway, the second-highest road on Earth, from Bishkek, towards the Silk-Road city of Osh and to the Tajik capital Dushanbe. Wide gravel plateaus, border canyons and 4,000-metre passes unfold one after another.
Riding is steady and engaging — long days, some broken track, and mountain weather that can turn. You need to be in good shape and ride regularly, but the pace is set for immersion, not for extreme technical challenge. A mechanic and a support vehicle follow every kilometre.
Along the way you sleep in Pamiri family guesthouses, share meals with your hosts and cross paths with a mountain culture shaped by altitude and distance. Space, silence and movement — that is the Pamir.
