PARTNER LINKS /// HOW WE MAKE MONEY WITHOUT TOUCHING YOUR ENTRY
Who pays us,
and who never does.
Riders don’t pay to use The Dirt House and never will. This page explains every way money moves around the site, so you can judge what we show you.
Partner links
Event and area pages carry a “Make it a weekend” section with links to campsites, accommodation, travel and kit. Some are partner links: if you click through and book, the partner pays us a commission. It never changes the price you pay, and we mark the section “Partner links” every time.
- CampFind UK — campsite links. CampFind is owned and run by the same founder as The Dirt House. It charges the camper a small booking fee (currently 5%, capped at £4.99) and charges campsite owners a subscription rather than commission. We link to it because it’s ours and because the price you see is the real price; we say so here so you can weigh that.
- Booking.com — hotels, B&Bs and, outside the UK, campsites. Affiliate programme (via CJ Affiliate): we earn a commission on completed stays booked through our links.
- Direct Ferries — crossings for European events. Affiliate programme pending; until it is live these are plain links.
- Gear and parts retailers — not yet live. When we add them they will appear here first.
- Google Maps — directions links earn us nothing.
Featured placement
Organisers, venues and festivals can pay for a featured slot: a labelled position at the top of the home page, a search result or an area page. Every one is marked “Featured · paid placement”, there are never more than two per surface, and a featured listing still has to pass the same verification as a free one. Nobody can pay to have facts changed or a competitor hidden.
Tour operators: Boost. A tour operator who has claimed their listing can switch on Boost from their studio (£29 a month or £249 a year, cancel any time). It puts them first in their country on /tours and on the country pages, in the Featured row at the top of /tours, and first in Rider Deals. Every Boosted card and page is marked “Featured · paid placement”. Boost changes position only: every other operator stays listed, free, with the same facts, and the order below the Boosted operators is the normal one. It never changes what a rider pays or the commission an operator pays on a booking.
What is never for sale
- Your entry. The entry link on an event page is always the organiser’s official route. We don’t sell entries, add fees or insert a checkout.
- Verification. “Verified by the organiser” means the organiser confirmed the facts. It cannot be bought.
- Search order beyond the labelled slots. Below the featured slots, results order by date and relevance only.
- Your data. Partners never receive your email or alert signups. See the privacy notice.
Editorial
Stories and guides are written to be useful, not to sell. If a guide is sponsored or contains partner links, it says so at the top. We don’t accept payment for reviews and we don’t run advertising that pretends to be editorial.
Regulated categories
We do not currently link to insurance, finance or alcohol partners. If we ever do, it will be after the appropriate regulatory review and with clear labelling.
Questions
If a link or placement looks wrong to you, tell us: sveventuresltd@gmail.com. This page changes when our partners change; the date at the top of the privacy notice moves with it.
